La Chapelle Notre Dame du Mai at Six Fours Les Plages


The Chapelle ND du Mai is located at the highest point of the Cap Sicié massif, straddling the communes of La Seyne sur Mer and Six Fours Les Plages. 

What you will see: the meeeer as far as the eye can see, but also the islands of the hyères, the bay of Toulon, the isthmus of Sablettes, and even the Embiez.

A brief history:
The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Mai is a must-see Var building that offers a breathtaking view of the West Var region. Built in 1625, it is accessible by foot by various hiking trails, including the Littoral trail.

Access: by foot with a gradient. About 900m from the parking lot of the Aire des Masc. But be careful, it's climbing! In addition, please keep informed of the opening of the massifs during the summer season by clicking here. When the wonderful cornice road is closed, you will need more than an hour of hiking.

Batterie du Lazaret - route de la Renardière in Saint Mandrier


What you will see: the small tourist road that winds through the pine forest smells like sap and hot air. By taking it, you will be transported by the beauty of the panorama that opens up to you at the bend of a bend.  

A brief history: 
The Lazaret battery was built in 1880 on the heights of Saint-Mandrier. Although it is not accessible from the interior, it offers a panoramic view overlooking the sea and the Mandrean port, ideal for watching the sunset.

Le Pont des Chantiers at La Seyne sur Mer


Pride of the city of Seyne le Pont des chantiers has been retired since the end of the shipyards in Seyne in 1987. However, you can visit it free of charge to understand its workings and past usefulness or see it in the spotlight on the occasion of the annual event La Navale Enchantée. 

What you're going to see there: You will be able to see the bay of Toulon from the "other side"! Indeed you will see part of the military ships of the Port of Toulon and the cruising jetty. But you will also have a magnificent view of the port of Seyne, the old town and the Parc de la Navale.

A brief history:
Built in 1917, the mobile bridge was once used to transport railway convoys to the former shipyards of La Seyne. Today it is a monument open to the public and offers a splendid view of the city and its surroundings.

Parc de la Navale - Vue du Pont

Collégiale Saint Pierre at Six Fours Les Plages


Slightly below the fort of Six Fours, it overlooks the city and thus benefits from an exceptional panorama that sweeps through the town of Six-Fours to the bay of Toulon.

What you shouldn't miss: The very special luminosity of this site. In the evening or before the showers, the clouds let just enough sunshine through to highlight this small detail that you wouldn't have seen! If you are motivated, take the road to the fort to observe the view from the other side: a small hillside that climbs a little but the view facing the fort or the ruins of the Saint Roch chapel is worth a visit! 

A brief history:
Nestled at the top of the hill of the Vieux Six Fours, the collegiate church of Saint-Pierre is a listed monument whose Romanesque part dates back to the 11th century. This is all that remains of the old town of Six Fours, the other older parts having disappeared in favour of more modern buildings in line with our way of life.

Le Gros Cerveau in Ollioules


Accessible by car from October to the end of June, the road that crosses the Gros Cerveau massif is surprisingly beautiful: breathtaking cliffs open onto the landscape, a clear view to the creeks, you can observe the eagle's bill and the hyères islands on a clear day. The ideal time to go there? Early in the morning, or in the early evening to observe the day's lights decline at the pofit of the stars. From the hiking trail, you can reach the feudal castle which offers a view of the interior and the entrance to the Ollioules gorges.

A brief history: 
The Gros Cerveau is a massif that dominates the medieval city of Ollioules, accessible by foot or by car. This exceptional site is the starting point for many hikes and has a panoramic view from Hyères to the creeks of Cassis.
