The Celto-Ligurian oppidum of the Courtine is a settlement site from the ancient period, occupied from the Bronze Age until the 1st century BC, whose remains are inscribed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments.
This fortress, which overlooks the entrance to the Ollioules Gorges by 250 metres, housed residential houses, weaving workshops, stonemasons, bronzers, oil mills, flour mills and a sanctuary. The ruins can be visited freely, and are accessible after a 20-minute walk from the Châteauvallon car park.

The Bottin-Layet archaeological museum, located in the village at 2, Traverse du Lançon, presents the artifacts resulting from the excavations carried out on the oppidum by the Var archaeological centre in partnership with the Regional Archaeology Service.
