Exposition - " Le Toulon des années 1900" dans l'oeil de Marius Bar

Location : Villa Tamaris centre d'art
  • Exposition -
The new exhibition highlights the Toulon of the 1900s through the eyes of Marius Bar.
Born into an old Marseilles family, Marius BAR, after a long apprenticeship in Toulon, opened a photography studio at number 15 Place Puget. The portraitist business and the contacts it brought him did not really correspond to his aesthetic ideal, so this dynamic photographer with a passion for images and light focused his professional life on two major themes: illustration and the navy.
Marius BAR constantly scours the landscape bathed in the beautiful light of Provence, tirelessly "boxing it up". The city of Toulon, its neighborhoods and neighboring towns hold no secrets for this image-hungry eye. The extraordinary photographic process enables him to freeze the present moment on a glass plate, then render it on sensitive paper.
From 23/02 to 15/09/2024, every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 1.30 pm and 6.30 pm.
Opening on Friday, February 23 at 6 p.m.

Except on public holidays.
